Holding the Sun

One evening I took some pictures

of the sun peeking through the flowers.

It was the night of the solar

eclipse in May 2012. I took these

before we could see the eclipse.

I'll be posting some eclipse pictures in the future.

Memorial Day 2012

Another Memorial Day has come and gone.

Many great men and women are still out there,

protecting our freedoms,

keeping us safe,

sacrificing every day so that we can be free.

Thank you to all who serve

and all who have ever served.

You are the true heroes.



Local Scouts pay tribute to our veterans

by putting up flags at 2 local cemeteries

on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday

of Memorial Day weekend.

Iowa Storm Clouds

My husband's hobby is watching the weather.

I was glad recently when he suggested we go out

and take photos of some storm clouds.

By sheer luck I was able to get a couple of

shots of lightning, as well as

the sunset. Finally we've found

a way to make our hobbies collide.

Such a gorgeous sunset. I'd love to

take credit for creating such vivid colors

and the way they swirled together,

but all the credit goes to God.

No one can create what He does.

Storm clouds off in the distance.

of lightning, and you can also see just a

glimmer of it in the photo below.

 This was my best lightning shot.

I've never tried shooting lightning before

and it was sheer luck to get this shot.

This sunset shot was taken on a different evening.

Spring Chicks and Ducks

I love seeing the cute spring chicks

and ducks. They're so adorable!

Winter Photos from Jester Park

We haven't had much of a winter

this year, but I tried to take

advantage of some of the few

snowy days we had to get a few

winter shots. These were also

taken at Jester Park in Polk County.

I think I've said this before, but if you've

never been to Jester, it's worth the trip.

It's a wonderful county park with so

much to offer.

Leap Day Winter Photos

I shot these photos as I was out with

a friend a few weeks ago. I can't believe

 this is the last day of February and yet this

is my first post for the month.

Thank goodness for it being

Leap Year or I'd have missed

out on posting for the month.

Wild Boy and Sea Gulls

I was looking through some older photos

and found some of my son, from a number

of years ago, that I absolutely treasure.

These were taken in Canada on the shore

of Lake Ontario. My son was so

excited to have a chance to feed

the sea gulls. He was as

wild as they were on this day.
