Opportunity's Gate
"People talk about
opportunity knocking,
but the gate was always
springing in the breeeze
before I got to the door."

Autumn Color
I still have a lot of
Colorado photos I'd like to post,
but I needed just a simple, colorful
shot of nature for a change.
This was taken in the fall
a few years back.

Hope
I learn more about God
From weeds than from roses;
Resilance springing
Through the smallest chink of hope
In the absolute of concrete....

Blue Building and Cat
I was intrigued by this old building.
I love buildings with character.
None of the modern buildings for me.
I'd love to have been able to
go exploring in this one.
As I stood photographing the building,
I noticed something small on
the upper right corner, by the third floor windows.
At first I was concerned for the cat,
then realized the opened windows were
without screens.
Kitty made it back to safety
while I was watching.

Just Take the First Step
Take the first step in faith.
You don't have to see the whole staircase,
just take the first step.

Ducky and a Horsie
“Aren't the clouds beautiful?
They look like big balls of cotton...
I could just lie here all day, and watch them drift by...
If you use your imagination,
you can see lots of things in the cloud formations...
What do you think you see, Linus?"
"Well, those clouds up there look like
the map of the British Honduras on the Caribbean...
That cloud up there looks a little like the profile of Thomas Eakins,
the famous painter and sculptor...
And that group of clouds over there gives me
the impression of the stoning of Stephen...
I can see the apostle Paul standing there to one side..."
"Uh huh...
That's very good...
What do you see in the clouds, Charlie Brown?"
"Well, I was going to say I saw a ducky and a horsie, but I changed my mind!”

Same Flower Zoomed
I was playing with Photoshop
and zoomed in on the same flower
I posted 2 days ago.
I was stunned by the beauty
and the details of the flower.
It reminds me of a sea creature.
I think it's gorgeous.
Testament to the fact
that God creates miracles every day,
we just have to stop and notice.

Grouchy Little Plants in Bloom
Living in the midwest my whole life,
I'd never before seen a "real" cactus,
just growing in the ground,
as we saw in Colorado.
And I'd certainly never seen one
blooming before,
and never realized cacti even bloomed.
(Thank you, dear son,
for teaching me the word "cacti"
and that the word "cactuses"
is mainly an English word.
After looking it up, the word "cactus"
can also be used for the plural form.
That's my grammar lesson for the day).
This is gorgeous!
I had no idea such beauty
could grow on such grouchy
little plants.

Garden of the Gods...Again
If you've never seen Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs,
it is a must see. It is so amazingly beautiful. The
rock foundations are gorgeous and look out-of-this world.

America the Beautiful from the Top of Pikes Peak
Katherine Lee Bates wrote the poem
(yes, originally a poem)
"America the Beautiful" in 1893
after traveling across part of the United States
and then visiting Pikes Peak.
I was recently at the top of Pikes Peak
and can understand all the beauty
Ms. Bates saw in our outstanding nation.
Happy Independence Day, Americans,
on this 4th of July in the most
beautiful and the greatest
country in the world!

Singing a Song
Nothing but Blue Skies Do I See...
Nothing but Bluebirds All Day Long
**Update: I have since learned that this is black-billed magpie.**
I came across this very noisy bird in Colorado.
I would very much like to know what
kind of bird this is.
Please leave a message if you can identify
this bird for me. Thanks.

Air Force Academy Cathederal
The cathederal
at the Air Force Academy
in Colorado Springs, Colorado
is absolutely breath-taking.
Even a photo can't capture
the beauty that exists
in this building built
to worship God.
