Iowa's State Capitol Building
This is just one of the many
beautiful stained glass windows at
our state capitol building
in Des Moines.

Interesting
I like interesting.
Not sure what these are
(would love to have someone tell me),
but I came across
this interesting fence in
Coon Rapids, Iowa.

Come Unto Me
Found a peaceful courtyard
in downtown Des Moines,
with this beautiful statue of Jesus
beckoning to me.
The noises of busy downtown
were drown out in the courtyard.
All I could hear was the snow
dripping off the roof
and the sound of Jesus saying,
"Come unto Me."

Book Bird Bath
I came across this bird bath
on the Iowa State University Campus.
As my son would say, "It's beast, bro!"

Dreaming
This is a test.
It is only a test.
Seriously, folks, this won't let me
post any photos so I'm testing
if it will post my words.
Perhaps blogspot is boycotting Iowa
(or hibernating)
until it gets warmer here.
Hmmmmm...
hibernation...
I think some of the animals
got it right by avoiding
the cold of winter.
And we think humans
are the smartest
animals on the planet.
Right.
Yet this is frustrating.
It's the 3rd day of the year.
My goal was to post a new photo
each day
of this year.
And on the 3rd day already
I can't add a photo.
It is what it is.
I think I'll start dreaming
I'm on a warm, sunny beach
with not a care in the world.
Don't wake me up.

Winter Chalk Sky
Winter skies always remind me
of elementary school art
when we'd make chalk drawings.
The colors were muted,
with one color fading silently
into the next.
That's what the skies
look like so often
before and after
an Iowa blizzard.
Parts of Iowa were hit by a blizzard
on December 19th and 20th, 2012.
I took this photo in the late afternoon after
the winds had died down, at least in town.
