Some Gave All

All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all

Love your country and live with pride
And don't forget those who died for America

All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all

All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue

And some had to fall
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all

Think of all your liberties and recall, yes recall

Some gave all

Some gave all

Thank you to everyone who is serving or has ever
served our country.
Words can't express how much
your sacrifice means to me.

Storm Clouds

These pictures were taken just off Interstate 80 near
Iowa City after the tornado passed over.
I was driving through on Sunday May 22nd
and heard the tornado sirens going off.
I pulled off the interstate, wondering
what I should do. Thankfully the sirens
then stopped. Since I was there with my camera
I decided to take a few pictures of the storm clouds.
While I was lucky to be safe,
my heart and prayers go out to the people
of Joplin, Missouri and all the other parts
of the country that have
been devestated by tornados this year.

Graduation

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.
You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
You are the guy who'll decide where to go.

Floral Walls on Sherman Hill

I love the Sherman Hill neighborhood for so many reasons.
I found these two wonderful walls covered with flowers
across from one another.

High Trestle Trail bridge

Madrid, Iowa (okay, I'll give Woodward a little bit of credit here)
now has the 5th highest and longest bike bridge in the world
(despite the Des Moines Register stating that the bridge is
"west of Ankeny"--give me a break!).
These pictures were taken from the Highway 210 bridge upstream
from the High Trestle Trail bridge.
In the second picture you can see how the metal structures are
all turned at slightly different angles. Going across the bridge,
it seems as if you're going through a rounded tunnel.
You'll have to come check it out for yourself if you
haven't been here. It's worth the trip.

The Ordinary

Sometimes the most ordinary things are the most beautiful.

I love how this family of goats appears to be posing for me.
Made me smile.

Tiptoe Through the Tulips

When my son was 3 years old, he was helping
me plant tulips in our flower garden.
I sang, "Tiptoe through the tulips with me," several times.
He giggled.
As we went on planting I heard him singing,
"Tiptoe through my two lips."

Here's a few tulips you can tiptoe through.

A Tribute to My Mom

Sweet Toddler

High School

Nursing School

No doubt her favorite role--Grandma!

Some mothers would give anything for their children. I'm lucky enough
to be loved by one of those. Thank you mom. I love you!

God's Light

I was driving home a few nights ago
when I saw this gorgeous sunset.
Someone once told that her family had
always called that "God's light."
Someone else said that, as a child,
she was always told that light like this
meant someone was on his/her way to Heaven.
I think it's beautiful.

Determination

I think the expression on these three young mens' faces defines determination.
